  • Newly opened Brussels and Johannesburg airside hubs with direct tarmac access crucial for speed and product integrity
  • Enhancing Kuehne+Nagel’s pharma & healthcare network encompassing more than 230 operations worldwide

With the opening of airside pharma & healthcare hubs in Brussels, Belgium, and Johannesburg, South Africa, Kuehne+Nagel adds two strategic elements to its global GxP-certified network of temperature-controlled facilities for the distribution of vaccines and other pharma & healthcare products.

As many of the temperature-sensitive products have very low to no stability outside of their stated temperature ranges, direct tarmac access at Kuehne+Nagel airside facilities even further minimises the risk of temperature excursions and ensures product integrity during the logistics journey. The new premises have dedicated areas for all ranges of temperature-sensitive products: <-20°C, +2° to +8°C and +15° to +25°C. In addition, these facilities have the ability to change or add dry ice as required for deep frozen shipment where temperatures need to be maintained below -60°C.

In Brussels, the new Air Logistics hub is located in the center of Brucargo at the confinements of Brussels airport, the first airport in the world with an IATA CEIV pharma certification. The new Kuehne+Nagel facility consists of 15,546 sqm of warehousing space and is fully connected to the recently extended Geel Contract Logistics pharma warehousing facility, as well as the pan-European KN PharmaChain Road Logistics Network managed from Luxembourg.

In Johannesburg, the expanded KN PharmaChain airside facility at the international airport answers all temperature-sensitive cargo handling, consolidation and storage requirements and offers a number of value-added logistics services before distribution in South Africa or into Africa. Additionally, the new facility provides a unique temperature-controlled plane side solution through the use of state-of-the-art KN PharmaChain cool dollies. Built to accommodate both lower deck and main deck pallet sizes, the cool dollies protect the integrity of the cargo from the aircraft directly into the airside facility’s GxP coolers.

Yngve Ruud, Member of the Management Board of Kuehne+Nagel, responsible for Air Logistics, comments: “Today, new pharma & healthcare products tend to be more valuable, more temperature-sensitive and have additional requirements for storage and transportation conditions. Such capabilities and facilities are not easily available globally. The new hubs in Brussels and Johannesburg will ensure that our pharma & healthcare customers can fully rely on Kuehne+Nagel to handle the specific challenges of integrity as well as provide end-to-end visibility and regulatory compliance along the logistics journey of their sensitive products. So, they can focus on the health and well-being of their patients; because this is what matters the most.”

Kuehne+Nagel’s quality-driven approach continues to set the industry benchmark for pharma and healthcare logistics. The company currently has over 230 GxP-certified operations worldwide – included in the pharma & healthcare network are additional hubs offering solutions for temperature-controlled needs; they are located in the US, the UK, Denmark, Spain, Luxembourg, Italy, France, Singapore, India, Panama, the UAE and Australia.

5 SURPRISING BENEFITS OF PENTAIR WATER SOLUTIONS

5 SURPRISING BENEFITS OF PENTAIR WATER SOLUTIONS

By: Melissa Jones, currently serves as Vice President, Residential and Commercial Systems at Pentair

Water is vital to the health of our bodies, playing a function in everything from cell creation and temperature regulation to oxygen delivery. In fact, up to 60 percent of our bodies are made up of water. It’s a building block of life itself, and ensuring its quality is a big part of what motivates us at Pentair as we work to design and produce our products.

It’s no wonder everyone wants clean, safe water at home. What might surprise you, however, is that there are even more ways having Pentair-treated water can contribute to a healthier lifestyle—both at home and in your community.

Healthier Hair

The excess minerals in hard, unfiltered water have been shown to decrease the strength of hair and increase breakage—while also creating undesirable textures.1,2 Filtered and softened water from Pentair products means consistently softer water that won’t put unnecessary stress on your hair, keeping it shiny and healthy.
Adding a water softener to your home means sparkling dishes, cleaner laundry, shinier hair, and appliances that last and last.

Cleaner, Softer Skin

Similar to its effect on hair, hard water can dry out your skin and cause
redness, but even worse, the extra minerals in unfiltered hard water can alter your body’s ability to moisturize itself, causing breakouts and rashes.3 For cleaner, softer skin, you need cleaner, softer water at home.

If you own a pool, Pentair can help there, too, with our Bioshield UV Disinfection Sanitizers, which neutralize 99.9 percent of harmful bacteria with less chlorine — meaning less irritation to eyes and skin.

Vital Minerals

Part of water’s role in keeping us healthy and happy is as a delivery system for the minerals we need to survive, like magnesium, sodium, zinc, and more. These minerals are essential to hydration and keep our bodies functioning normally. That’s why, when we design Pentair filtration systems, it’s as much about what we take out of water as what we leave in.

Making Hydration Easy

It might seem obvious, but staying hydrated is simpler when the water in
your tap is enjoyable to drink and tastes great. Pentair Everpure delivers high quality filtration for the home — helping ensure every pour is delicious while reducing off-flavors and impurities. And, crystal clear water means crystal clear ice for your favorite beverages as well.

A Healthier Planet

Finally, great-tasting water at home means fewer plastic water bottles and
less waste that could end up in landfills, or worse, oceans and waterways. Annually, our residential filtration solutions help eliminate the need for more than 9.9 billion water bottles across the U.S.

The connections between water and health are nearly endless, but it all starts with water that’s clean, safe, and sustainable. An investment in your home water system — with technology from Pentair to provide peace of mind and ensure it tastes great and — is an investment in your family’s health, comfort, protection and enjoyment.

Four Signs Of A Leader Of Hope

Four Signs Of A Leader Of Hope

by Audrey Sellers| PPAI Media

People need effective leadership now more than ever. True leaders guide the way with humility, integrity and honesty. They are radically transparent, and they accept blame when they fail. Instead of deflecting, they choose to take responsibility and fix the problem.

John C. Maxwell, bestselling author, coach and speaker, says some leaders stoke fear over hope, but it shouldn’t be that way. If you aspire to be a better leader for those in your charge, keep reading this issue of Promotional Consultant Today. We share four hallmarks of a great leader, according to Maxwell.

1. They always look for the good. Leaders who embrace hope do not waste their time or energy digging for dirt on their employees or colleagues. Instead, they look for the positive in other people and situations. Maxwell says they believe the best of people and believe the best for the future. They inspire others to seek what’s true and noble, and they paint a picture of a promising future that welcomes all.

2. They live from good values. While some leaders live out their emotions for their teams or the entire company to witness, the best leaders learn to manage their emotions. They do not lead from a place of anger or resentment but instead look to their core values. The best leaders understand that their emotions will change, but good values are permanent. According to Maxwell, leaders who live by their values provide a consistent and solid path for those who follow. They can create a sense of confidence and trust, even amid the unknown.

3. They work to build bridges. Some leaders will do anything to satisfy their own personal agenda, including sacrificing relationships and burning bridges. As a result, Maxwell says they create an atmosphere of disloyalty and mistrust that only increases the uncertainty and chaos their followers feel. Leaders of hope, on the other hand, continually build new bridges while maintaining previous relationships. They know that to achieve progress, they must nurture relationships and show their employees that they matter.

4. They tell the truth. Some leaders like to take advantage of chaotic situations by manipulating the truth to their advantage. Sometimes they manipulate with half-truths or only tell the side of the story that makes them look good. Maxwell sometimes they point out lies that others tell in order to hide their own. Leaders of hope take no part in dishonesty or misleading people. They stand on the truth by bringing facts into the light and not trying to brush important facts under the rug. As a result, Maxwell says these kinds of leaders model a hopeful way forward for their teams.

Instead of sowing disharmony and confusion, the best leaders work to inspire hope. Consider the ideas above as you contemplate how you can responsibly use hope in your leadership strategy.

How To Say No The Right Way

How To Say No The Right Way

By Audrey Sellers

Sometimes, you simply have to say “no.” Whether it’s an unrealistic deadline or an unreasonable workload, you can protect yourself and your team by pushing back against certain requests. However, saying no isn’t always so easy. You don’t want to appear unhelpful to a client or selfish to a colleague. And your boss? They may not tolerate being told no. So, what do you do?

According to Ben Brearley, a leader and coach, you can learn to rephrase your no. There are ways you can decline a request and restructure the conversation without ever saying no. In this issue of Promotional Consultant Today, we share Brearley’s suggestions on what to say without saying “no” directly.

“Could we do it this way instead?” If you have an idea for a smarter, more affordable or less complicated approach for you or your team, pipe up. This phrase is a great alternative to saying no. Brearley says you could also say no by making your solution seem like the other person’s idea. You could say something like, “I think [the way you did something] worked great. Maybe we could try a similar approach here.”

“My team is busy with task 1, 2 and 3 right now. Can we work on task 3 later so we can fit in this new work?” The person making the request might not be aware of your current workload. By saying this phrase, you are confirming the priorities. If your boss or the client wants this new project, you may need to push something else to the back burner to get it done. Brearley says you should always be clear so other people know what you have on your plate.

“Do you think [another team or person] could help us with this?” If you think of someone who might have the know-how and the bandwidth to help with the project, ask for help. The other person or group of people can probably help you accomplish the project better, so see if you can share the load.

“I’m concerned about how my team is coping with the workload. Can we discuss some options to accommodate what you need?” This phrase is helpful when you’re communicating to your boss. According to Brearley, many people take on more than they can handle at work because they are afraid of the consequences. However, this approach can backfire. It’s much better to raise your concerns and be honest about what you can handle and where you might need help.

“Based on the plan I’ve developed, we should be able to deliver this by [insert time].” This is another way to say no without really saying no. When you can outline a plan, you can show concrete tasks you are working on and others are less likely to keep piling work on your plate. They’ll know what you already have in the pipeline.

It’s okay to say no sometimes. The key is learning how to say no the right way. By considering the guidance above, you can alert others to your workload and schedule, while keeping your reputation—and job—intact.

Five Key Reasons It Pays To Foster Kindness At Work

Five Key Reason It Pays To Foster Kindness At Work

By:Audrey Sellers| PC Today| PPAI Magazine

In some corporate cultures, kindness is hardly a core value. Instead, employees are urged to focus on getting their jobs done, staying disciplined, and maybe even being aggressive if the situation calls for it. In these kinds of cultures, kindness is perceived as a weakness.

What these companies might not know, though, is that kindness can significantly boost their bottom line. Chantal Sheehan, founder and CEO of Blue Fox, says that companies with kindness baked into their culture are more productive and more profitable.

In this issue of Promotional Consultant Today, we share Sheehan’s five ways kindness can impact and improve your company culture.

1. Kindness opens the door to creativity. If you want your sales reps to think creatively and develop innovative solutions, show a genuine interest in them. This small way of being kind can help establish trust and the kind of work environment that welcomes all kinds of thinking. When you show kindness to your team, you help them feel happy and upbeat, which can lead them to come up with more creative ideas.

2. Kindness increases employee engagement. Most of the global workforce is disengaged at work. You can help your team feel more engaged by being kind, says Sheehan. Kind leaders help their people feel valued, supported, respected and heard—all which help individuals feel more engaged in their jobs.

3. Kindness peaks productivity. Want to increase productivity among your sales team members? Treat them with kindness and civility. Sheehan points out research that shows that 26 percent of employees who work in kind environments experience more energy at work and they are 30 percent more likely to feel motivated and enthusiastic about acquiring new skills.

4. Kindness keeps your employees healthy. Health is top of mind for most companies. If you want to keep your team healthy, try creating a kinder, less stressful work environment. Sheehan points out research that shows high-stress companies spend 50 percent more on health care. If you constantly push your sales reps and foster a fast-paced, pressure-filled culture, you might be doing more harm than good.

5. Kindness breeds influential leaders. Research shows that the best way to influence and lead is to demonstrate kindness and warmth. Sheehan says that even by showing some small nonverbal signals such as a smile or a nod, you can show people that you are pleased to be in their company and attentive to their concerns.

It isn’t hard to be kind, and in today’s environment, a little kindness can make all the difference in someone’s life. By committing to being kind, you will also reap the benefits of a more engaged and productive sales team.
